Susan Hoch, M.S. Literacy Education is a licensed reading specialist. Susan received her Master's degree in Literacy Education from Radford University summa cum laude. She received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Lees McRae summa cum laude. In addition, Susan has completed her Associate Level Orton Gillingham training from the Orton Gillingham Academy in Amenia, NY.  Susan has also completed LETRS training, and served as a facilitator training other educators in science based reading research.

Susan served a third grade teacher for five year before transitioning to a reading specialist & literacy leader, where she has served for over fifteen years.  She had led her school in literacy training, and curriculum development, while coaching teachers, and providing daily intervention to struggling readers.  Susan has served in countless literacy leadership roles locally, and at the regional & state level.  She has served on the state literacy team training other educators in summer literacy institutes, while also consulting & providing professional development across her region.  She has also served as an adjunct professor at Emory & Henry University, and God's Bible School & College teaching bachelor level literacy courses.  

Susan is an experienced literacy leader that is passionate about literacy, and ensuring that "they can read & write".  She is well versed in Structured Literacy / Science of Reading approach and addressing literacy difficulties, whether you are a school desiring consulting, or a parent desiring help for your child. 

She holds current licenses as a Reading Specialist, Orton Gillingham Associate (Certified level in training), and LETRS certification.

In her spare time, Susan loves to spend time with her husband & family, garden, read and bike.  She recently became "Nana" to his first grandson, who she adores.
